Home Page
We are trying to make this a collective site, where anyone can post their Bronson reels for all to enjoy! So please if you have a reel that you believe is a Bronson made reel, and you do not see it here in the website, we would like to here from you? We added a Bronson history page, and are now entering some more info! This site is mostly more for the Bronson prewar and postwar 100 yd. level wind casting reels, at this time! We are beginning to add more types of reels, and info, ( this is going to take some time! ) on closed face spinning reels, the Symploreels, open faced spinning reels, salt water reels, and fly reels, look under the " More Reels " link above! For now we are only going to stick with Bronson made reels, later we will add the JA Coxe, and the True Temper brand! Some of you may know that Bronson Reel Company of Bronson, MI made hundreds of different reels, some factory named reels, and more so called " trade reels " made for other companies, like Sears, Montgomery Wards, Speigel's Catalog, and hundreds of other catalog, hardware, and fishing tackle stores, who wanted their name on a reel for the trade. I'm very sure we will never see all of the reels that Bronson made, but with your help maybe we can find more reels to add to this site, so you can get a look at some of them.
We believe that Bronson made reels for their salesmen with several different names and sent them out to various different states, and Canada, to sell to anyone who wanted them, You will notice that some of these reels are not in the best of shape! but we are doing the best we can for now, and hopefully update some of them later. We have collected and gathered pics and info from all over, Robert Ellis is a member of ORCA ( Old Reel Collectors Association ) and enjoys this hobby greatly! We want to thank all who have contributed to help start this site! A lot of these pics are taken right off of a Ebay auction, we can not afford to buy every reel to take pics of, and we always ask permission first, either from the seller, or the buyer! and do credit who deserves it! Click on the link bar above for other options!
If you see any mistakes please contact us. ( Bronson is known to have changed reel #'s, model names, and parts, to make customers happy, to save money, or maybe even made factory mistakes? so you may see that we have something different, from what you have, or know! ) we would like to hear your opinions, or facts! so we can shed the light on some of these mysteries! We have some different pages here, and will try to stay in alphabetical or numerical order on them.
